The StenoCast ME2U wireless realtime kit is designed for the realtime reporter who provides realtime to a single client. If your clients are married… just kidding. Actually, by “single” we mean that you provide realtime to just one client, and you do not anticipate providing realtime to more than one client.
This is the perfect solution for the reporter who provides CART services or the reporter in court who provides realtime to just their judge.
The ME2U realtime system comes in three flavors: Blue, Red or the ME2U Realtime kit. Here’s how it works:
Blue ME2U: The Blue ME2U kit works with all CAT software and all litigation-support software. The Blue ME2U wireless realtime kit is the universal system that works for everyone. You simply plug one USB component into your computer and the other USB component into your client’s computer, and you are cable free, providing wireless realtime to your client with this point-to-point, secure StenoCast Bluetooth connection.
ME2U TV: If you like the idea of a wireless one-client solution, but you either (a) don’t like to carry the extra weight involved in bringing an extra notebook computer and/or (b) you don’t want to rely on your clients to bring a working computer and/or (c) you prefer not to bother with COM ports, protocols and baud rates, then the ME2U TV is your solution. The Realtime TV is paired to your USB ME2U transmitter. When the TV is turned on, it is ready to receive your realtime. Nothing to configure. Nothing to remember how to set up. Your clients can scroll through the text, highlight, save the text and save the highlights. The TV’s high-definition touch screen is incredibly crisp and clear, and very simple to navigate. No need for an external keyboard, so very little valuable desk or table space is required.
Red ME2U: If (1) your CAT software supports the Bridge Refresh Protocol (Eclipse, StenoCAT, DigitalCAT, AristoCAT, SmartCAT), and (2) that Bridge Refresh Protocol has been implemented by your CAT software company (currently just Eclipse), and (3) your client is using Bridge litigation-support software, then you may use the Red ME2U realtime kit.
The reason to use the Red ME2U kit is you may “refresh” your realtime during the course of the realtime job, which means that any editing changes you make will not just be reflected from that point in the hearing forward, but those editing changes will be made retroactively back to the start of the job. But you may only use the Red ME2U kit if all three of the above conditions are met. If you may occasionally have clients using LiveNote or Summation or CaseView or anything other than Bridge, then you will want the Blue ME2U kit.
Q1. Why would a reporter purchase a ME2U kit as opposed to the Ez Send system?
A1. The ME2U realtime kit is specifically for a reporter who provides realtime to just one client and anticipates providing realtime to just one client in the future.
Q2. What is the difference between the blue ME2U and the red ME2U?
A2. The blue ME2U is the universal realtime kit. This blue system is compatible with every CAT software program used by reporters and is compatible with any and every litigation-support (realtime viewing) software on the market used by your clients.
The red ME2U is specifically designed for realtime situations where these two conditions exist:
1) The client is using the Bridge litigation-support software program; and
2) The reporter’s CAT software has adopted and implemented the Bridge Refresh Protocol.
Q3. Which CAT software companies have adopted the Bridge Refresh Protocol into their software?
A3. As of January 1, 2012, all CAT software companies, except Stenograph, have adopted the Bridge Refresh Protocol. As of this date, Eclipse software has fully implemented this refresh protocol.
Q4. What if I purchase a ME2U kit and at some point in the future need to provide realtime to more than one client at a time?
A4. When you purchase an Ez Send system, which allows you to provide realtime to up to 14 clients simultaneously, we will convert your ME2U kit into two USB Ez Receivers and pair theses two receivers to your new Ez Send transmitter. There is no charge to you for this conversion.
